Coffs Harbour City Council resolved to undertake the preparation of a revised Woolgoolga Town Centre Study in the form of a Masterplan at its Ordinary Meeting of 13 June 2013. Read the Report to Council, Minutes of the meeting, Project Plan and Consultant Brief adopted by Council at that meeting.
A progress report about the project was made to Council at its Ordinary Meeting of 8 May 2014. Read the Report to Council.
A further progress report about the project, and the independent peer Design Review that was undertaken during 2015 was provided to Council at its Ordinary Meeting of 10 December 2015. Read the Report to Council. Read the Council Minute.
A recommendation of the Design Review is to relocate the access to the Woolgoolga Beach Holiday Park from Beach Street to Wharf Street. In response to this recommendation, Council resolved to undertake community consultation to obtain feedback on the new entrance proposal. The findings of this consultation were presented to Council at its Ordinary Meeting 14 April 2016 and can be viewed here.
Council subsequently resolved to undertaken further investigation into an alternative concept proposal for a left hand entry only into the Holiday Park on Wharf Street comprising a turning bay on Wharf Street and left hand exit from the Holiday Park on Beach Street. At its Ordinary Meeting 28 April 2016, Council further resolved to investigate another alternative concept proposal for a left hand entry and exit for the Holiday Park on Wharf Street comprising a turning bay on Wharf Street.
Based on the findings of this further investigation, Council at its Ordinary Meeting of 9 June 2016 resolved to endorse the relocation of the entrance to the Woolgoolga Beach Holiday Park from its current location in Beach Street to Wharf Street with a turning bay and additional parking on Wharf Street including kerb and guttering.
Council also resolved at this meeting to request the Corporate Manager of the Coffs Coast State Park Trust to revise and update the draft Woolgoolga Beach Reserve Plan of Management incorporating the relocated entry to the Woolgoolga Beach Holiday Park and to report back to Council with submissions made during the exhibition of the draft Plan of Management.
Council further resolved to finalise the preliminary draft Woolgoolga Town Centre Masterplan incorporating the relocated entry (including turning bay and additional parking on Wharf Street) and to report back to Council seeking endorsement for its exhibition.
A copy of the Council Report and Resolution underpinning this decision is available on Council’s website www.coffsharbour.nsw.gov.au under Council Minutes and Agendas (see 9 June Agenda).
As a result of significant community and stakeholder interest in traffic and parking matters within the Woolgoolga Town Centre, Council engaged specialised consultants MRCagney in August 2016 to undertake further traffic and parking analysis to feed into the draft Masterplan.
In October 2016, MRCagney held a series of workshops for traders and community members to discuss the impact of people movement, traffic and parking on the quality of Woolgoolga town centre.
Feedback obtained from these workshops have informed the Draft Woolgoolga Town Centre Masterplan which can be viewed HERE.
